Researchers in VR will be hosting the “VR Research 101 Seminar Series” on our second Thursday of each month. This 4 event seminar series will be presented by Dr. Anthony Chaston, Associate Professor of Psychology at Mount Royal University (aka - VizWig in Altspace). Over the 4 seminars Dr. Chaston will discuss how to design and conduct research in a VR Setting. The goal is to help VR researchers, or potential VR researchers, to get their research ideas up and running.
September 16, Part 1 - How do I choose a Research Design? You may have a specific research question in mind, or maybe you just want to get involved in research in a particular field. Many potential researchers struggle to become active researchers because the task seems large, complicated, and they don’t know where to start. The goal of Seminar #1 will be to discuss how to get past that point. How do you turn a research idea into research design that will produce valid and reliable data?
The remaining 3 seminars will focus on: October 7: Designing effective research procedures and ethical considerations. November 11: Collecting data – putting those procedures to use. December 9: Data analysis – OK, I have all this data, what do I do with it?
These events are brought to you by the VR Research team. Interested in becoming an active team member to help the VR researchers community thrive and grow? Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and visit our VR Research Team on the Educators in VR Discord.
